Let’s get one thing straight first: You’ve got to really try to mess up a wedding in Vermont.
We just thought we’d mention that at the start, in the hopes that it will help set your mind at ease.
You’re getting married in one of the most gorgeous places in the world, and everything is accessible within a relatively short drive.
To make it better, there’s very little crime or other negativity to worry about.
So, as you browse through this list of wedding weekend itinerary ideas, just keep in mind that you don’t need to try too hard and you don’t need to worry too much.
Try to organize and be prepared for what you can, but try to relax and take it easy otherwise.
That’s what us locals do.

The Rehearsal
If you’re worried at all about something unexpected happening at your wedding or things not going as they should, having a rehearsal can help a lot.
The whole point of a rehearsal is, as you might have guessed, to rehearse everything before the ceremony.
Normally, almost all weddings are going to have a rehearsal of some kind because nearly all weddings include a ritual aspect that involves memorizing some steps or words.
If you can, have your rehearsal at the venue you plan to get married at and involve everyone who is going to take part in the ceremony somehow.
This helps ensure that everyone has the same information and is on the same page.
It also helps reduce the odds that anyone will trip or bump into each other during the ceremony.

The Ceremony Itself
This is what the rehearsal is meant to prepare you and everyone else for: the main event.
Everything you’ve been doing and planning up until now has been leading up to this.
But try to calm down.
You’ve planned and prepped as much as you could have.
Everything’s going to be fine.
Just stick to the plan, go through the steps you’ve rehearsed, say the words you’ve memorized, and remember that the married life you’ll share together after the ceremony is the most important thing.
That’s really what this is all for.

The Reception
Your reception is essentially your wedding’s afterparty.
It’s an opportunity for you and all your guests to meet and mingle.
Your guests and your spouse’s guests have probably not really met before, and they’re all connected now through you.
Isn’t that fun? 🙂
However, if you do that, try to designate a separate space for your reception apart from the ceremony space so that you don’t need to move a bunch of stuff around.

Post-Wedding Brunch
The day after your wedding, you and most of your guests might still be in town.
And if that’s the case, why not have a relaxed, casual meal with everyone at a local eatery of your choosing?
This is great because, in addition to getting some tasty local eats, you get to experience your first post-wedding public appearance as a married couple in a more laid-back sort of way.
Trust us, we know it doesn’t sound like much, but you’ll want to experience the simple pleasure of enjoying your first normal meal as a married couple in the company of people who are happy for you.

Something Fun Outdoors (You’re In Vermont!)
Speaking of wedding weekend itinerary ideas…
This may or may not be part of your honeymoon, depending on whether or not you’re inviting some of your guests to enjoy the outdoors with you.
But whether you do it alone as a couple or as a group, don’t miss the opportunity to explore Vermont’s scenic natural landscapes and all the activities they offer.
We’ve got everything from hiking to river rafting and everything else in between.
The only thing we really don’t have is access to the ocean, but you can just drive a couple of hours east to get that.
So it’s not like even that is particularly far away.

Your Honeymoon
And of course, a list of wedding weekend itinerary ideas can’t possibly be declared complete without mention of the honeymoon.
You’ve just gotten married, you’ve had the reception, and now you’re alone together to do whatever you want.
Since this is Vermont, we’d recommend engaging some more with the outdoors.
But you can also have a great time staying in any of the famously cute small towns around the state or along the banks of Lake Champlain.
You can visit a farm to learn about beekeeping, learn to ski (if you’re here in winter), or just about anything else you can think of.
If you’ve got a bit of time and you want to get a stamp in your passports, you can even go up to Montreal and spend your honeymoon there.
It’s only a 2-hour drive from Burlington.

Perfection Is Impossible, But Vermont Comes Close
And there you have it, our brief but hopefully informative list of wedding weekend itinerary ideas for couples who are getting married in our beloved state of Vermont.
It’s good to plan, but remember that you can’t plan for everything, and it’s better to laugh and take things in stride if and when they don’t go exactly as expected.
Slowing down and taking it easy is kind of what this place is all about.
Don’t worry, you’ll get it. 😉
